WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a talented Machine Learning Engineer/Data Scientist, who can analyze various data such as human demographic, psychographic, vital, photos, essays, etc.

Our day-to-day tasks include technical R&D, proof-of-concept (POC), system design, infrastructure design, system integration for model inference, building service pipelines, etc. Skills in modern software development and solid experiences in developing real-time systems are essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Research, develop, and demonstrate human simulation AI PoC
    • Collect data and develop machine learning product/services, (build, verify, and deploy models)
    • Build and optimize ML pipeline from data curation to automatic model serving

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
    • Strong experience of machine learning and the framework (e.g. tensorflow, pytorch, Computer vision libraries, NLP libraries, etc.)
    • Experience in system architecture and infrastructure design on Cloud i.e. AWS services, EKS, etc.
    • Business level skills of English and Japanese

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Higher motivation for catching up with cutting edge technologies
    • Quick implementation skills from the cutting edge research papers
    • Skills of data design, data curation, from multimodal big data (table data, sentence, photos, voice).
    • 3+ years of experience of service development using machine learning

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking highly self-motivated engineers with expertise in machine learning and computer vision  to join our Tokyo-based team for building next-generation technology for building next generation technology in video analysis products used in the city, e.g New tools and systems for surveillance; or human-centric service with video perception about human identification, scene understanding, and human activities recognition; Real2sim environment building and relevant visualization UI for the identified results.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Design novel computer vision algorithm for our applications
    • Develop machine learning models for video stream analysis pipeline.
    • System design considering scalability (the number of cameras and digital contents)
    • Model deployment and evaluation

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree in computer science, machine learning, or other related area or equivalent practical experience 
    • Knowledge of major ML frameworks such as Pytorch, Tensorflow, etc. 
    • Knowledge of computer vision algorithm, 
    • 5+ years of experience in software development in Python/C++ on Linux
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ph.D. degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience 
    • Experience in implementing algorithms for video understanding such as 2D perception (human ReID, pose estimation, action/scene recognition), 3D perception, video/image retrieval or related fields. 
    • Experience in unsupervised, weakly supervised,  active learning, and collaborative learning data pipeline
    • Experience in processing large-scale datasets, and model acceleration.
    • Experience in graph neural network, and graph data processing.
    • Records of publications at major AI conferences (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICML, NeurIPS, and others)

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Research, develop, and demonstrate POC for building AI services and platforms.
    • Work throughout machine learning products/services integration pipeline i.e. model inference, service integration, service testing, deployment, and maintenance.
    • Build and optimize MLOps pipeline from data curation to automatic model deployment.Improve system architecture and infrastructure on Cloud for high-performance and scalable platform.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We're looking for software engineers who are passionate about creating AI-microservice platforms.

We will estimate human activities in Woven City to predict their future decisions and to promote behavior change. Our platform's will be available for inventors and accelerate their innovations. We can develop microservices (such as combined API) for mobility, energy management, healthcare, and other services in Woven City.

You will be responsible for driving the entire process of development and implementation, starting with defining the cross-functional specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead design of microservices using machine learning for Woven City's service
    • Architect, build, and maintain microservices platform
    • Design, implement, and test high quality APIs
    • Exercise technical judgment in working with large, cross-functional teams

TEAM
At Woven by Toyota, we work on a diverse set of problems ranging from solving optimization problems in 3D geometric computer vision, to minimizing latency on hardware accelerators, designing novel neural network architectures and applying and advancing the state-of-the-art of machine learning (ML) for perception, prediction, and motion planning. We are looking for doers and creative problem solvers to join us in improving mobility for everyone with self-driving technology. You will be interacting on a daily basis with other software and hardware engineers and researchers to tackle some of the most challenging problems in AI, robotics, and computer vision.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
The Perception team is looking for an experienced Machine Learning engineer to join us in developing a state-of-the-art perception system for autonomous driving. As a Machine Learning engineer in the Perception team you will be responsible to design and develop new Machine Learning models for our online perception system and deploy the model on our next-generation autonomous vehicle platform and ultimately to millions of Toyota production vehicles.
We recognize the unique capabilities each team member brings, and encourage applicants to reach out even if they do not match all of the characteristics described below.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perception ML model R&D by prototyping, validating and iterating on existing and new model architectures.
    • Own development of new ML models end-to-end from data strategy, initial development, optimization, production platform validation, and fine tuning based on metrics and on road performance.
    • Lead large, multi-person projects and significantly influence the overall Perception architecture and technical direction.
    • Enable and help other engineers on the team to be more effective through coaching and leading by example when it comes to writing high-quality code, providing high-quality code and design document reviews and delivering rigorous reports from ML experiments.
    • Work in a high-velocity environment and employ agile development practices.
    • Team player and "get things done" mentality
    • Collaborate closely with stakeholders in downstream customer teams to define interfaces and requirements for the Perception stack.
    • Closely collaborate with Perception subteams to develop end-to-end solutions.

EXPERIENCE:

    • MS, or higher degree, in CS/CE/EE, or equivalent in industry experience.
    • 5+ years of experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, Caffee, Tensorflow
    • Extensive experience with machine learning and classification
    • 5+ years of experience in machine learning workflows: data sampling and curation, pre-processing, model training, ablation studies, evaluation, deployment, inference optimization.
    • Strong programming skills in Python or C++
    • Passionate about self driving car technology and its potential for humanity.
    • Experience in writing production level code in a real-time operating system.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate concepts clearly and precisely
    • (Nice to Have) Hands-on experience with building a perception stack for autonomous systems.
    • (Nice to Have) Experience in runtime optimization for runtime-critical systems on Linux and UNIX-like real-time operating systems.

161,000 - 264,500 a year
Your base salary is one part of your total compensation. At Woven by Toyota, we offer a base salary, a bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. The California pay scale for this full time position is $161,000 - 264,500. The total compensation offered to an employee will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and level.

TEAM
Our team, Spatial Information Solutions, is responsible for leading the realization of Woven City's three core concepts of "Human Centered", "Living Laboratory", and "Ever Evolving" through the digital transformation of the construction field.

One of our team's roles is to develop and provide digital building data, a foundational component of the systems, to Digital Twin stakeholders. Woven City's need for such digital data goes beyond just 3D shapes; detailed attribute information of each element is necessary to enable them to be utilized for various simulations and services (so-called Building Information Modeling (BIM)).

Our team is also working to maximize the use of this digital building data to improve the efficiency of our business and the quality of the product throughout the entire construction process. Our focus is on efficient, consensus-based building among all stakeholders in the planning and design stages, elimination of rework, and improvement of work efficiency in the maintenance and management stages.
Another important initiative for our team is the development of computational design for urban planning and architectural design using Digital Twins. We also develop technology to perform design calculations with multi-objective optimizations. By quantifying evaluation indices of architectural design, we are able to develop programs for automatic shape generation based on a fixed set of rules.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a Computational Design Engineer who can lead the development of computational design in urban planning and architectural design at the most advanced level in the world. Our particular focus is on the development of multi-objective optimization techniques, such as Generative Design. There are a wide range of indicators to evaluate the design of cities and buildings. The technology to rationally optimize them simultaneously is especially important for the Woven City which aims to achieve human-centered design.
You will report to the sub-lead of Spatial Information Solutions and the workplace is hybrid (remote and office).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
・Lead the development of computational design for urban planning and architectural design using Digital Twins. We mainly focus on the following items:
- Automatic shape generation algorithms based on reasonable rules.
- Quantification of the evaluation indices for judging the merits of a design done by a computer. 
・Develop and implement solutions to the increasing computational load due to an increasing number of evaluation indices and constraints.
・Develop a coupled simulation between an optimal automatic design program and a dynamic simulation (e.g., a multi-agent simulation of human and traffic flows)
・Plan and develop other simulations that contribute to urban planning and architectural design using BIM models that combine spatial and attribute information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
・Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Computer Science or a related field.
・3+ years of proven experience in computational design or similar roles.
・Familiarity with multi-objective optimization methods, such as genetic algorithms.
・Experience with parametric design of buildings or other structures, and in creating programs for automatic shape generation (experience using Revit-Dynamo, Rhinoceros-Grasshopper, or similar tools).
・Strong coding skills in C#, Python, Javascript, or similar languages.
・Proficiency in conversational-level English and business-level Japanese skills.
・Excellent communication and people engagement skills.

NICE TO HAVES:
・Degree in Computational Design or a related field.
・Experience with and an academic understanding of key simulation tools used in the planning and design of industrial products, such as CFD, FEM, etc.
・Practical experience quantifying constraints and evaluation metrics for objects subject to optimal design.
・Practical experience with optimal design involving two or more coupled optimization programs.
・Experience with developing applications in a cloud environment (e.g. AWS)

As a Software Engineer in the Enterprise AI - Cloud infrastructure team, you will work alongside machine learning engineers not only within Woven by Toyota but throughout the Toyota Group and its vendors to build a robust, scalable machine learning platform

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for candidates who are willing to work with a team and passionate about building efficient tools and frameworks to support workloads of Enterprise AI and enable cutting-edge solutions for machine learning model development lifecycle. This is a hybrid role requiring your presence onsite 3 days per week, where you will report to an Engineering Manager.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Define architecture and its plan to build robust, scalable, distributed systems for Enterprise AI
    • Lead implementation of critical systems while maintaining reliability
    • Work with other teams to maximize infrastructure usage and build efficient solutions for heavy tasks
    • Collaborate with other teams in Woven by Toyota to integrate services in machine learning model development lifecycle
    • Work closely with teammates to establish and improve development standards
    • Implement CI/CD best practices for our services.
    • Analyze and monitor our services
    • Responding to incidents and taking on-call for systems in production

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
    • Strong experience with Kubernetes in production and container technologies
    • Strong experience with event-driven, distributed, and cloud architectures
    • Experience with Python, Golang, or related programing languages
    • Knowledge of best practices for scalability, reliability, and security
    • Understanding of DevOps best practices

$140,000- $230,000 a year
Your base salary is one part of your total compensation. At Woven by Toyota, we offer a base salary, a bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. The California pay scale for this full time position is $140,000- $230,000. The total compensation offered to an employee will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and level.
