Plaid’s Machine Learning team is building models, services and platforms that improve how millions of users understand and grow their financial lives. We are looking for data scientists to utilize best in class methodologies and approaches to build new products, improve existing systems and uncover insights to empower data driven decision making.

You’ll be a data scientist on the Data Science Risk team, where you will work on developing systems and products such as Signal to identify and prevent bank payment and platform risk. In this position, you will utilize a variety of methodologies and approaches to strengthen and improve Plaid’s fraud offerings, including:

- Diving deep into Plaid’s unique data to identify emerging fraud vectors
- Developing new features to improve ML fraud models
- Crafting metrics, alerts, and dashboards to evaluate and monitor ML production model performance
- Building data pipelines using tools like DBT to automate ETL processes
- Working closely with clients to help craft fraud mitigation strategies

Responsibilities

    • Applying your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and data visualization to find insights for improving our API products
    • Identifying useful signals that can be fed into machine learning models. 
    • Diving deep into the behavior and performance of large scale machine learning models to discover new opportunities of improvements and experimentation
    • Informing and influencing product, engineering teams and customers through your data analysis and presentations
    • Making long-term data science roadmap decisions like how machine learning and data science iteration should be done at Plaid 
    • Championing a data-first approach toward decision-making across the entire organization. 

Qualifications

    • 2+ years of industry experience in a product focused Data Science role
    • Deep familiarity with SQL and data visualization tools
    • Ability to code and iterate independently in Python and utilize common data infrastructure tools like Jupyter notebooks, standard ML libraries,  Spark, etc
    • Familiarity with AWS stack
    • Understanding of modern machine learning techniques, such as classification, clustering, optimization, deep neural network, and natural language processing
    • Proven ability to tailor your solutions to business problems in a cross-functional team
    • Data engineering experience and data pipeline tooling (e.g. Airflow, DBT) experience is a plus
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, or a closely related field
$180,000 - $270,000 a year
Target base salary for this role is between $180,000 and $270,000 per year. Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission are dependent on the position offered. The Data Science team is responsible for serving Plaid’s product analytics, experimentation and modeling needs. We're looking for a Machine Learning Engineer with experience applying machine learning and modeling techniques in the credit decisioning space to join our Credit group. Plaid’s Machine Learning team is building models that improve how millions of users understand and grow their financial lives. We're looking for machine learning engineers with experience applying state-of-the-art machine learning and modeling techniques -- including natural language processing, anomaly detection, optimization, and time series forecasting -- toward different product areas. We value not only technical know-how, but also creativity, user empathy, and teamwork.

You will be a machine learning engineer on the credit team focused on building and maintaining machine learning models to determine bank income insights or credit risk models.

Responsibilities

    • Building and maintaining machine learning models to determine bank income insights or credit risk models.
    • Researching existing techniques in the industry and applying them.
    • Analyzing production & development model performance, building dashboards to visualize model performance and other characteristics.
    • Working with Data Infrastructure and the Insights engineering team to ingest new signals + improve ML.
    • Building and maintaining models pertaining to Credit products.
    • Help launch new Lending capabilities at Plaid.

Target base salary for this role is between $154800 and $232200 per year. Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission are dependent on the position offered.
