You will be working with many datasets from real-world applications and applying state-of-the-art machine learning techniques developed in Kumo to directly impact a customer’s business needs. This will require using your ML and AI knowledge to solve critical and challenging problems to better serve our customers. You will drive the changes in the core algorithm and infrastructure based on the findings of the engagement to make the platform easier to use and to scale automatically modeling problems and datasets.

Your Foundation:

    • You want to solve real-world problems and get things done.
    • Must have: Python, and PyTorch, working with enterprise SaaS products
    • You are able to abstract the patterns from many specific examples and understand how we need to evolve the platform to avoid the same issues slowing us down repeatedly.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent technical experience
    • Must have 3+ years of experience programming in OOP languages like Python, or C++
    • 4+ years experience in designing ML algorithm solutions, specifically on search and recommender systems, for user-facing products

Your Extra Special Sauce:

    • Ph.D. Degree in Computer Science or Machine Learning or related technical discipline, or related practical experience.
    • Ideal candidate is a top contributor to PyTorch OSS, with experience in Graph Neural Networks(GNNs)
    • Experience developing large-scale systems
    • Ability to diagnose technical problems, debug code, and automate routine tasks
    • Analytical approach coupled with solid communication skills and a sense of ownership

As a Forward Deployed Data Scientist, you will partner with customers to discover, design, develop, and deploy solutions using Kumo’s technology. Ideal candidates have a strategic and analytical aptitude, software engineering expertise, and strong interpersonal skills.

The Value you will Add:

    • Educate current Kumo users on how to successfully use our product, best practices, etc. so that they increase usage across a larger number of internal workloads
    • Be a Kumo platform superuser - understand the product’s ins & out to solve customer problems 
    • Generate Kumo platform educational materials for users and customers 
    • Partner closely with our ML team to help drive customer success during the full customer lifecycle
    • Coach customers on how to maximize Kumo for their specific use cases with datasets. Helping customers with their business needs and internally collaborating with sales, engineering, and product team in the end-to-end process from ingesting their first datasets to successful POC contract signing
    • Create broader processes for each customer to go through to ensure we can drive repeatable successes for each contract
    • Develop methodologies to be shared with customers to help them understand the value delivered by Kumo to their organizations and explain this value to their internal stakeholders
    • Partner with our product and engineering team to relay and reconcile customer feedback, including uncovering causes of data and model accuracy issues, debugging backend issues, surfacing feature gaps, etc.
    • Increase awareness/interest in our Kumo platform amongst analyst-focused external communities/ecosystems, and drive our bottoms-up adoption which may include content generation/demos/webinars/follow-up with users' questions, etc. 

Your Foundation:

    • 5+ years of relevant professional experience working with external customers in deploying new AI/ML PoCs into production for customers
    • Experience supporting the sales lifecycle
    • Where you were working in a consulting, forward-deployed engineer, customer solution where the AI/ML tools used are horizontal platforms
    • Hands-on troubleshooting experience helping customers resolve issues and working with engineering to test and deploy fixes to customers.
    • Knowledge of common analyst tools such as SQL-based Data Warehouses, DBT, BI tools such as Tableau, Looker
    • Familiarity with key predictive ML, ML Ops, etc. concepts, ideally from formal bachelor/graduate training
    • Self-starter, motivative who can demonstrate the ability to structure complex problems, develop solutions for external clients
    • Persuasive communication–the ability to present, speak, and demo well to customer stakeholders and convince them to partner with Kumo!
    • Experience with SaaS product development for enterprise customers

Kumo.ai is seeking passionate and driven 1) Machine Learning, 2) Infrastructure, and 3) Full Stack Engineer Interns to join our dynamic team. Applied Machine Learning Intern

    • Assist in the development and implementation of machine learning models.
    • Collaborate with the team to collect, preprocess, and analyze data for model training.
    • Support in researching and experimenting with new algorithms and techniques.
    • Participate in the evaluation and validation of model performance and accuracy.
    • Contribute to the design and improvement of existing machine learning pipelines.

    • Contribute to documentation and participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability.
Requirements:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
Strong understanding of machine learning concepts and algorithms.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar for data manipulation and model development.
Experience with machine learning libraries/frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and statistics.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills (not mandatory but a plus):
Previous internship or project experience in machine learning or data science.
Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, etc.
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) for deploying machine learning models.
Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN).
