Data Scientist, Data Analyst

What are we trying to do?

We see an increased need for the wide business to explore and unveil the value hidden in the big variety of data assets available in the group. We want to grow substantially the data science team to scale up the modelling capabilities and the innovative solutions offered to external and internal clients. As a big player of services and information retrieval in many aspects of the Financial Markets, we want to provide our clients with premium data quality and rigorous analytical approach, in order to enable them to discover and leverage value in their business. To achieve this, we iteratively feed our product roadmaps with client needs and sentiments inferred from data, we innovate through data-driven product functionalities, we link product offerings with the analysis of business processes.
What do we need help with?
We need people with a quantitative background that can apply a rigorous scientific approach to analyze and extract value from the data assets available in the group. We need people that can frame the business problems under study, propose innovative modelling, find the relevant data, use advanced statistics and data modeling / visualization, present methods and findings / solutions. We need people that can collaborate with a wide variety of teams, deal with quickly changing priorities and projects, iteratively test and refine the solutions we provide to unmet (and often, not completely known) needs. 

What will you do?
You will be exposed to high level business ideas for new products and new technologies in the industry. You’ll be asked to form a biased opinion, look for counterexamples, come up with proposals and tests to corroborate or discharge the hypothesis, unveil dynamics that keep us and our clients ahead of the competition.
You’ll be able to put at work the recent advances in technology for big data (data processing / visualization and machine learning) to imagine, customize, and engineer innovative solutions.
What you’ll need to know:
You need to be able to model and abstract relevant dimensions in the problems under study. You need to have a scientific mindset and approach to problem solving. You need to be able to structure the manipulation of large sets of data. You need to be able to suggest what can make the analysis better, which data can cross-check the assumptions, how we can retrieve those data in an effective and scalable way. Working knowledge of Python is required - in alternative, R or Matlab. 
Required capabilities:
· STEM Master Degree (PhD nice to have). Previous experience in modelling complex problems.
- Degree score of at least 105
· Previous experience in scripting, especially for data analysis and visualization.
· Working knowledge of Python or R.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel/PowerPoint).
· Knowledge of BI tools (Power BI/Tableau) is a plus.
· Industry knowledge is not essential.
- Good English skills (minimum B1)
- Good Italian skills (minimum B1)

Mid Level
Principal Engineer – AI / ML
ION Group
The AI & ML Principal Engineer will collaborate closely with client and delivery teams to define and execute on AI/ML projects in alignment with company’s practice vision and goals. They will also lead, design, and implement strategic consulting projects leveraging Generative AI and Machine/Deep Learning methods and techniques, conduct POC/pilots, map solutions to client business processes, and develop technical value propositions for Lab49’s capabilities.

What you’ll do:

    • Act as a principal consultant to clients in the Financial Services domain, understanding their unique challenges and requirements, and proposing AI/ML solutions that drive value and impact.
    • Lead and execute on consulting engagements (design and implementation), client workshops, and presentations to showcase the potential of AI/ML technologies for clients.
    • Manage client relationships and ensure the successful delivery of AI/ML projects on time and within budget.
    • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and product owners, to gather requirements, define project scope, and establish success criteria.

Skills and Experience:

    • Proven and in-depth experience of 5+ years in designing and delivering ML solutions, preferably within a consultancy or cloud solutions environment.
    • 10+ years of software engineering experience delivering production-ready solutions in an enterprise environment.
    • Proven experience in ML techniques including: regression, classification, time series, clustering, deep learning, hypothesis testing, cross validation, feature selection and feature extraction; NLP techniques including: topic modeling, entity extraction, summarization, and sentiment analysis.
    • Highly proficient in Python and relevant ML & Data Engineering libraries (Spark, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, NumPy, Pandas, Dask).
    • In-depth knowledge of generative AI techniques and frameworks, such as GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks), VAEs (Variational Auto encoders), or similar.
    • A passion for the Generative AI space, particularly around NLP and LLMs. 
    • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and familiarity with relevant AI/ML/DL services and tools is a plus.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical team members

Nice to have:

    • Experience in a fast-paced growth organization while working in a professional services delivery model
    • 2+ years of experience in the Financial Domain
    • Experience with vector databases and LLM design patterns
    • Demonstrable work in AI/ML and/or relevant certifications
