What You’ll Be Doing:

    • Work cross-functionally to ensure data scientists have access to clean, reliable, and secure data, the backbone for new algorithmic product features
    • Build, deploy, and orchestrate large-scale batch and stream data pipelines to transform and move data to/from our data warehouse and third-party systems
    • Deliver scalable, testable, maintainable, and high-quality code
    • Investigate, test-for, monitor, and alert on inconsistencies in our data, data systems, or processing costs
    • Create tools to improve data and model discoverability and documentation
    • Ensure data collection and storage adheres to GDPR and other privacy and legal compliance requirements
    • Uphold best data-quality standards and practices, promoting such knowledge throughout the organization
    • Deploy and build systems that enable machine learning and artificial intelligence product solutions

Requirements:

    • 3+ years of data engineering experience
    • Expertise in Python for data cleansing, transformation, modeling, etc.
    • Proficiency with SQL and experience working with high volume datasets in SQL-based warehouses such as BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, or others
    • Experience with parallelized data processing frameworks such as Apache Beam, Apache Spark, Google Dataflow, AWS Glue, etc.
    • Deep understanding of data modeling, access, storage, caching, replication, and optimization techniques
    • Ability to orchestrate data pipelines through tools such as Apache Airflow
    • Experienced in container orchestration (e.g. Docker)
    • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and CI/CD
    • Monitoring and metrics-gathering (e.g. Datadog, NewRelic, Cloudwatch, etc)
    • Proficiency with git and working on a shared codebase
    • Excellent documentation skills
    • Self motivation and a deep sense of pride in your work
    • Passion for the outdoors
    • Comfort with ambiguity, and an instinct for moving quickly
    • Humility, empathy and open-mindedness - no egos

Bonus Points:

    • Experience with machine learning workflow management frameworks such as MLFlow, KubeFlow, SageMaker, Neptune, or related frameworks
    • Experience with GPU-optimized data processing (i.e. CUDA)
    • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, such as Terraform
    • Experience with ELT tools such as dbt or Dataform

$140,000 - $180,000 a year
A successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on various factors such as skills, experience, training and credentials, as well as other business purposes or needs.  It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range of their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the factors and circumstances of each case.

What You’ll Be Doing:

    • Designing and implementing algorithms that power everything from the way we optimize our content to the way we personalize experiences
    • Designing machine learning models that will be pushed into production systems, at-scale
    • Identifying unique ways in which data can be transformed into solutions that directly drive revenue for the organization
    • Partnering with teammates and product managers to develop robust solutions to highly specific technical challenges
    • Identifying technical and strategic gaps in our data science infrastructure and proactively driving best-in-class solutions
    • Presenting work to a large variety of stakeholders

Requirements:

    • 5+ years of work experience in data science
    • B.S. or M.S. degree in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, mathematics, or equivalent practical experience
    • Proficiency with both Python and SQL
    • An understanding of both simple and complex machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts (e.g. clustering, regression, classification, deep learning, transformers, diffusion) 
    • Professional experience working in least one of the following areas: vector embeddings, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, generative AI (e.g. LLMs, transformers), personalization, route optimization, geospatial trajectories (GPS / GIS)
    • Experience with the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle (data cleaning, feature extraction, training/testing, model evaluation, optimization, deployment, etc.) 
    • Experience in collaborating with engineers in designing models that scale to production-level request volumes
    • Experience working collaboratively on shared codebases using Git
    • Experience in iterative exploratory notebook development (Jupyter, Hex, etc.) 
    • Experience working with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Caffe2, PyTorch, Spark ML, scikit-learn, or related frameworks
    • Regularly enjoys reading highly technical research papers and translating learnings into effective prototypes
    • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and a problem solver with a keen insight for asking the right questions and building solutions to drive direct business value
    • Expert communication skills, including the ability to persuade and inspire, a knack for breaking down complex concepts, and a proactive attitude towards knowledge sharing and documentation 

Bonus Points:

    • Querying and manipulating data on the scale of TBs+
    • Experience with transformation tools like dbt or Dataform
    • Experience with best practices in ML ops and software development lifecycles
